Supporters of the American Friends of the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled gathered together on November 24th for the 27th Anniversary Brunch hosted at Ravinia Green County Club. This beautiful Sunday morning was hosted by Randy & Nate Shapiro and Marlene & Shelly Stillman.
Before guests took their seats in the main ballroom, they were able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the following prizes: a $2,000 gift card gift card to Lester Lampert Jewelers, a four-day/three-night stay at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, or four Chicago Bulls Club Seat Tickets! They could also bid in the silent auction which featured over twenty items including sports memorabilia, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls tickets, a Ravinia Green Golf Foursome package and much more! In addition to the raffle and silent auction, new this year was a holiday boutique. There were eight different holiday vendors selling jewelry, home décor, clothing and much more which made for perfect gifts this season!
Once guests took their seats, they enjoyed a family style brunch with muffins, bagels and bialys with cream cheese, lox, tomatoes, cucumbers, capers, fresh fruit and more! The presentation started with a few words from National Board President, Lori Komisar, and National Executive Director, Jennifer Flink who greeted the guests. Executive Director Boaz Kramer and ISCD athletes Omri, Hadar, and Maayan spoke to the crowd and reminded guests how ISCD inspires them to keep going and help grow everyday. It was a very touching brunch and would never be made possible without everyone in attendance.
The brunch concluded with guests able to show their support in a fund-in-need which raised a generous amount of money. The annual brunch continues to show the Chicagoland support in the Center’s work to continue to refurbish the facilities used by all the athletes of ISCD.
ISCD is committed to providing ongoing financial support to the Center to empower physically disabled Israeli children from all backgrounds to participate in physical and psychological rehabilitation through sports to attain the goal of leading productive and successful lives in Israeli society.
