The 5th Annual Mercy Home Poker Night hosted at Hugo’s Frog Bar and Gibsons Steakhouse on Rush Street was the place to be on Thursday, January 25, 2018 as the event sold out for the second year in a row!
The evening brought over 300 attendees together for an evening to benefit the children living at Mercy Home and started off with VIP guests enjoying a Kettle One Vodka and Bulleit Bourbon tasting sponsored by Diageo. Once the rest of the attendees arrived, passed appetizers including mini crab cakes and grilled lambchops introduced a full buffet spread featuring prime rib and turkey carving stations. Guests enjoyed a fully stocked bar compliments of Chicago Beverage, Diageo, and Josh Cellars.
After a few announcements, the poker tournament commenced as each player was eager to earn one of the nine seats at the final table. However, everyone was already a winner as Blank Label gave out a gift certificate for a free custom dress shirt and Rivers Casino passed out $100 in free match play to be redeemed at their casino! The tournament featured a $10,000 seat to the World Series of Poker as the grand prize. Other prizes included a custom made sport coat from Blank Label, a 3-night stay at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and a staycation at The Godfrey Hotel with Chicago Bulls floor seats, just to name a few!
With the tournament well under way, the blackjack tables were bustling with excitement and jackpots as guests played their way to earn exciting prizes including a one-night stay at London House Hotel, wine tastings by PRP Wine and Lynfred Winery, and fully stocked gift baskets.
The evening concluded with a dessert spread featuring Gibsons’ infamous chocolate mousse, carrot cakes, and key lime tarts. Congratulations to Pete Mazzole for taking home the coveted $10,000 WSOP seat.
