Bright and early on the beautiful fall morning of November 19th, supporters entered the Ravinia Green Country Club with excitement for the American Friends of the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled’s 25th Anniversary Fall Brunch honoring Marlene & Shelly Stillman & their family.
Shelly and Marlene, their daughter Courtney, son Jonathan and his wife, Phyllis dedicate their collective time, efforts, personal and financial resources to make an amazing difference both here and in Israel. Shelly is responsible for bringing the AFISCD brunch to Chicago for the first Annual Brunch 25 years ago to introduce friends, family and the community to the amazing athletes from the Sport Center in Ramat Gan, Israel.
Before guests took their seats at the tables, they were able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the following prizes: a $3,000 gift card or a $2,000 gift card to Lester Lampert Jewelers, a four-day/three-night stay at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, or Chicago Bulls tickets! They could also bid in the silent auction which featured over forty items!
The presentation started with a few words from National Board President, Lori Komisar and Event Co-Chair Harvey Barnett. Executive Director Boaz Kramer and Ido Shkuri and Amit Vigoda, both young athletes of ISCD, awarded Shelly & Marlene Stillman with a framed photo of a garden dedicated to the Stillmans at the center as well as beautiful crystal awards. With many eyes tearing up, members of the Stillman family expressed their humbled gratitude and appreciation for the ISCD.
ISCD is committed to providing ongoing financial support to the Center to empower physically disabled Israeli children from all backgrounds to participate in physical and psychological rehabilitation through sports to attain the goal of leading productive and successful lives in Israeli society.
