Supporters of the American Friends of the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled gathered together on November 19th for the 26th Anniversary Fall Brunch hosted at Ravinia Green County Club. Over 150 guests came to show their support and honor the life of Moshe Rashkes.
Upon arrival, guests were able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the following prizes: a $3,000 gift card gift card to Lester Lampert Jewelers, a four-day/three-night stay at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, a one-night stay at the Ritz Carlton-Chicago with a $100 Gibsons Steakhouse gift card and Comedy Club tickets! They could also bid in the silent auction which featured over forty items including sports memorabilia, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls tickets, a Ravinia Green Golf Foursome package and much more!
Once brunch was seated, guests enjoyed a family style brunch with muffins, bagels and bialys, cream cheese, lox, tomatoes, cucumbers, capers, fresh fruit and more! The presentation started with a few words from National Board President, Lori Komisar, who greeted the guests and introduced a heartfelt video that remembered the life of Moshe Rashkes and all that he did for the Center. Executive Director Boaz Kramer and ISCD athletes Omri & Hadar spoke to the crowd and reminded guests how Moshe and many others who support ISCD inspire them to keep going and continue to grow. It was a very touching brunch and would have never been made possible without the Stillman’s who are responsible for bringing the AFISCD brunch to Chicago for the first time 26 years ago.
The brunch concluded with guests showing their support in a fund-in-need which raised a generous amount of money. The annual brunch continues to show the Chicagoland support in the Center’s work to continue to refurbish the facilities used by all the athletes of ISCD.
ISCD is committed to providing ongoing financial support to the Center to empower physically disabled Israeli children from all backgrounds to participate in physical and psychological rehabilitation through sports to attain the goal of leading productive and successful lives in Israeli society.
