Best Chicago Events: Spring 2017
With temperatures rising and the last of the snow melting away, Chicago looks forward to the arrival of spring all year. This year, there are plenty of outdoor festivals to entice you out of your house and into the sun. We’ve rounded up seven events to return the “spring” to your step.
Chicagoland Family Pet Festival
Friday, March 17 – Sunday, March 19
The Chicagoland Family Pet Festival gathers world class entertainment, a wide array of pet products, services, and animal rescues to Arlington Heights. While you may not be able to bring your fluffy friend from home, you won’t be returning home empty handed! Adult admission is just $10, and $5 for the kids, so you can spend a day with the family and adorable animals. What beats that?
Randolph Street Market Festival
Saturday, March 25
The Randolph Street Festival is famous for putting on various market events in Chicago throughout the year, though this festival is their most highly regarded. The weekend long event is notable for great people watching and “the best hot spot for antiquing”. Over 125 vendors will be present with items such as vintage goods, indie designers, and a global goods bazaar, this is an event not to be missed!
Chicago Improv Festival
Monday, March 27 – Sunday, April 2
Celebrating 20 years of the festival in 2017, the improv event gathers over 150 groups from around the world. In honor of their 20th anniversary, the original festival co-founder Frances Callier returns with Angela Shelton in their improv duo Frangela. The event will feature a lead performance by Dan Harmon, the creator of the NBC show “Community”. Ticket prices range from $5-$25
Chicago International Movies and Music Fest
Thursday, April 20- Sunday, April 23
CIMMFest (Chicago International Movies and Music Fest), the four-day film and music festival in Logan Square and Wicker Park, stretches over the second to last weekend of the month. With movies during the day and music at night,
this eclectic festive combines outstanding films and energetic concerts for an artistically unique event. In addition to film and music, the festival boasts VJ/DJ sets, Q&A’s, live score performances, industry panels and presentations that show how music and films relate to each other.
Sunday, April 2

Chicago Flower and Garden Festival
Saturday, March 18 – Sunday, March 26, 2017
Get your horticultural fix and ready yourself for spring in the city! The Chicago Flower and Garden Festival will be celebrating Chicago’s gardens, institutions, and neighborhoods in their 2017 show. The nine-day festival includes over 20 life-size gardens to walk through, seminars, DIY Workshops, and a marketplace. The show is all about inspiring, educating and motivating the next generation of gardener to find their green thumb.
Lincoln Park Wine Fest
Saturday May 20 – Sunday May 21
The third annual Lincoln Park Wine Fest transforms the quaint Jonquil Park into the perfect kickoff to summer. The open air festival features a variety of stands, which include food, treats, music, and of course, wine!
