This year’s ‘All in for Scholars’ Spring Fundraiser and Poker Tournament was a huge success with over 400 young professionals in attendance on Friday, May 10th. Guests not only enjoyed the beautiful inside space of Galleria Marchetti but also the spacious outdoor garden area. Supporters enjoyed donated beverages courtesy of Constellation Brands, MGP Ingredients and MillerCoors. Galleria Marchetti provided the food with a full buffet including fried calamari, chicken vesuvio strips, pastas, salads and sliders. The late-night pizzas, ice cream and cookies were also a big hit! Throughout the night guests also enjoyed a cigar tasting lounge on the outside patio courtesy of Iwan Ries & Co.
Aside from the delicious food and lively atmosphere guests were able to place their bids in the largest silent auction to date with almost 60 items! The silent auction featured a wide range of prizes including trips to the Caribbean from Elite Islands Resorts, sports tickets and memorabilia, spa packages, whiskey & cigar baskets, specialty artwork and more!
The night opened with special words and thanks from event co-chairs and young professionals board members, Michael Fertl and Meredith Mansinne. Next up was the founder of HFS Chicago Scholars, Mike Kennelly. After remarks from all a special presentation of a $12,000 grant check from Rivers Casino Charitable Foundation was presented to the organization for the student’s ACT prep. It was a very special moment to show the crowd this special achievement for their future scholars. The party continued, thanks to great music from the live DJ, with hours of poker and casino games including blackjack, craps, and roulette which drew a big crowd around the tables cheering friends and family on to win big! There were lots of chances to go home with a prize including a lucky winner who was chosen in the stack-the-deck raffle. Only 52 cards were sold, and the winner took home a seven-night stay at any of the Vidanta Resorts in Mexico! Casino raffle prizes consisted of gift cards, jewelry, in-home wine tasting and White Sox tickets just to name a few. But the most sought-after prize of the night was in the poker room, where over 100 players tested their skills hoping to be the lucky winner of the $10,000 seat at the WSOP in Las Vegas. Overall the night was a huge success but even more so for the poker grand prize winner, Tina Georgis.
