On Monday, July 16th, guests arrived at Ravinia Green Country Club for the 9th annual golf classic ready to play and support the AFISCD! As the day commenced, guests enjoyed a full lunch buffet with an omelet station, deli meats, salad, assortment of bagels, fresh fruit and more! AFISCD Co-Chairs, Matt Abeles and Harry Matthews then took the stage to give a welcome speech and thank the generous sponsors. Lori Komisar, ISCD President, and Jennifer Flink, National Executive Director, then took the stage to honor Danny Barnett with an award for his amazing support over the years. Danny Barnett had gracious words to say with many of his friends and family in the crowd to show support as well. Brunch concluded with a heart wrenching video which left guests feeling very touched and ready to show their support which resulted in an astounding amount of generous donations.
Spirits were high leaving the banquet room after an amazing opening ceremony and golfers made their way outside to receive their complimentary COHIBA cigars before they competed in the first golf activity of the day, the Mega Putt with a chance to win Chicago Blackhawks tickets! With rain in the forecast, golfers lucked out as they had picked up complimentary Antigua golf jackets upon registering earlier in the day. Then it was a shotgun start and golfers were on their way for a day of golf, fun activities around the course and endless prizes! Once everyone completed their rounds of golf, they gathered back inside to feast on appetizers and full buffet which included salmon, lamb chops, chicken, skirt steaks, and fresh vegetables just to name a few.
AFISCD Co-Chairs, Matt Abeles and Harry Matthews came back in front of the crowd to present the golf and raffle winners. The first-place foursome took home beautiful crystal trophies and had their choice of either a brand-new Apple watch or a golf or spa package at the Grand Geneva resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was a very successful day with tremendous support from everyone who joined.
