Inspired by the journey of their granddaughter, Livia, Kim and Will Ulaszek founded a charity, Little Heroes League, an affiliated organization of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, to help babies born with medically complexity like Livia achieve their best life outcomes. Little Heroes League was founded to enable infants born with distinct disadvantage to thrive and live their best lives. Little Heroes League, with Lurie Children’s, will implement a first-in-the-country program to provide care coordination for infants with medical complexity and their families to address this critical need in the hospital, at home, and in the community. To raise awareness for the foundation, Little Heroes League hosted the inaugural Big Hero Charity Golf Outing at the Ravinia Green Country Club on Monday, June 17th.
What was supposed to be a rainy, wet forecast turned out to be a perfect golfing day for all 100 guests. Since the driving range was a little wetter than usual in the morning, upon arrival, the golfers were able to practice on the in-door golf simulator followed by a full buffet lunch with grilled chicken, hot dogs, burgers and salads. Before heading out for their shotgun start, golfers participated in their first activity, the Mega Putt, for a chance to win Amazon Gift Cards! Afterwards, golfers headed out to their designated starting holes for a round of golf filled with endless fun and activities along the course! Once the golfers completed their round, they gathered back inside to feast on appetizers and a dinner buffet which included salmon, chicken, skirt steaks, and fresh vegetables.
Brenden Etue, Executive Director of Little Heroes League, thanked everyone for attending the inaugural event and presented the golf and raffle winners for the day. The night concluded with a silent auction and live auction, which included a Napa Valley Vacation and tickets to the ultra-exclusive Chicago Cubs 1914 Club! It was a very successful day with tremendous support from everyone who sponsored, volunteered and attended. It’s safe to say everyone is on the lookout for year two’s invitation!
