The Security Traders Association of Chicago (STAC) returned to Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse for their annual Poker and Casino night on Thursday, October 24th. The event brought together over 250 finance professionals, and many familiar faces arrived for a night of fun to show their support for The STAC Scholarship Fund.
With the Texas Hold Em Tournament grand prize being entry to the WSOP Millionaire Maker in Las Vegas, many poker players were excited to begin the night in hopes they would take home first place.
Before cards were dealt guests got to mingle and enjoy the open bar and delicious passed appetizers, including seared tuna wontons, assorted bruschetta, skirt steak skewers and mini crab cakes. On top of the appetizers, Gibsons provided a high-end dinner buffet with king crab legs, fried calamari, baby lamb chops, and a chef carving station with roasted turkey and beef tenderloin.
The poker tournament began after a few opening remarks by the President of STAC, James Bohrer, who thanked the sponsors and guests for coming out. A special live auction item was up for grabs before the tournament began. One lucky bidder went home with a 4 day / 3-night stay at Baha Mar in the Bahamas! With much anticipation and excitement in the room the cards were dealt and the poker tournament commenced. Other guests surrounded the blackjack tables and enjoyed the night trying to win big at the casino tables! Between the poker prizes, silent auction, ‘STAC’ The Deck raffle and casino raffle prizes, guests could go home with many great items. Prizes included Elite Island Resort trips to the Caribbean, custom suit and shirt from Knot Standard, Chicago sports tickets and memorabilia, and a trip to Las Vegas!
In the end, Seth Mindel, took home the sought after first place poker tournament prize and had his choice between heading to Las Vegas to compete in the WSOP Millionaire Maker tournament or a one week stay at the Vidanta Resorts in Mexico!
