In the heart of Chicago at the Daley Plaza, people from all walks of life gathered for The CHEST Foundation’s Lung Health Experience to test their lung health on June 20, 2018. Attendees started their Lung Health journey by sitting down with an on-site clinician to take a spirometry test. This allowed guests to learn about their lung capacity percentage and gave the clinicians the opportunity to recommend further testing with their doctors, if needed.
Once attendees were done with the test, they were able to partake in hands-on learning at the Virtual Patient Tour where they could inflate and deflate real pig lungs as well as feel how asthma and COPD can affect the flow of air to the lungs plus much more.
After the VPT, it was on to the partner tables where guests could increase their knowledge on topics such as COPD, asthma, allergies, and much more by speaking with a handful of volunteers or picking up patient education materials to take home. Once they completed the Lung Health Experience, guests received a complimentary cupcake from Ms. Tittle’s Cupcakes Food Truck and had the opportunity to hang out at the Daley Plaza enjoying well-crafted music from DJ, BRVTHERS KEEPER!
The event was a huge success as CHEST was able to test and help start the conversation on lung health to over 300 people!
